Falling into a rut is so very easy, getting back out of it not so very much. (On the other hand, getting into the groove is not so easy, getting distracted from it pretty simple. Funny how one word with the same ostensible meaning has two entirely different connotations.) How do you end up pushing yourself back into doing creative things when the will is hard to find?

As a side note, I seem to have some new messages since the last time I checked dA, but my Notes subpage is showing up blank (even though it lists the number of messages in my inbox and unread on the sidebar). [EDIT: Never mind, working now.]

Also, I've made a Tumblr account for easier updating of random drawings and things! Pretty sparse yet, but I'm going to try and do a daily sketch just to keep things flowing.  >>> [link]

Sorry to hear that.
If you find an answer let me know, I've got so many half finished projects that I'm not satisfied with and unsure of how to finish.

If I find a solid reliable answer, I'll definitely let you know - but I suspect that if I did find something that worked for everyone, I'd also be rich. :D

As a photographer, the photo-a-day routine has forced me to try to take a worthwhile photo even when distracted by things like moving. (I did resort to using my cellphone for a couple days.) You can see my results at [link]

Writers sometimes force themselves to sit in front of a blank sheet of paper for an hour a day even if they write nothing.

Get a comfy sketchbook and force yourself to do a sketch a day?

That's probably the route I'm going to have to do - I did do an exercise like that for a month, and by the end of it I was definitely doing better. Time to stop whining and Just Do It. :)

"draw one random evil biznatch in a skanky outfit a day" says I, but I'm also biased

And post one page here each week, just to keep you honest and all that. And because your loyal fans (Since your Lothlorien days) would like to see what you come up with.
Blessings,
Steve

Since Elfwood? XD Holy crap, that's staggering (especially since I look back at that stuff and cringe), but really flattering! Thanks!

I hear you. My photography has improved a lot since those days, too. I joined dA in January 2005 so I could comment on people's work in person instead of as a non-member non-entity. I uploaded a few of my paddling pictures to show folks what I was doing, and found to my surprise that I could hold my own. dA has been my online photo class and workshop ever since.
